Industrial Grade Magnesium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula of hydrated Mg(OH)2. As a suspension in water, it is often called milk of Industrial Grade Magnesium Hydroxide because of its milk-like appearance. The solid mineral form of Industrial Grade Magnesium Hydroxide is known as brucite.
Industrial Grade Magnesium Hydroxide is white powder or paste. It is soluble in diluted acid and ammonium salt and almost insoluble in water and alcohol. Its solubility in water (18°C) is 0.9mg/100ml. Its moh's hardness is 2.5 and refractive index is 1.56. As temperature reaches 350°C, it begins to decompose into magnesium oxide and water. After temperature is above 500°C, it will change into magnesium oxide by losing water.
