Dhokra (also spelt Dokra) is non ferrous me-tal casting using the LOST WAX CASTING technique. me-tal casting . .The product of dhokra are in great demand because of primitive simplicity, enchanting folk motifs and forceful form. This proces is technically known as cire perdue.
In this me-tal craft the craftsman firstly subcultures a wax model of the object he wants to make. Then he makes a mould of clay and pours molten me-tal into a hole in the mould , then the wax melts and the clay is broken away to bring out the me-tal object which is then smoothed an polished to perfection.In this process brass scrap is generally used as raw meterial.
